404 to Start — WordPress Plugins

If you don't name the small 404 page than you can deflect all 404 page not found errors permantly or soon to the start page or any site page you like.. It is usually not recommended to use 302 redirect unless you are expert and can make unique redirect page for each search engine. Post it at the plugin page 404 to Start.... Returning code other than 404 or 410 for non-existent page or redirecting users to this page such as the page instead of returning 404 can be useful. We recommend that you always return Not locate or 410 Gone response code in response to reply for non-existing page. You can improve the user record by configuring page to display custom 404 page when returning reply code. For example you will create page containing list of your popular pages or link to home page or feedback link. Google recently emailed us to complain about too many deflects which is problem for mobile users and when we removed this plugin we got email about all the quick 404 errors. Plugin works great it would be small if after few seconds it apply the redirect. and other users and bots see the 404 page. Browse the code recheck out SVN repository or subscribe to the development log RSS....  Read more
